"Big" questions Big questions turn into topics and subtopics. They tend to have the following words:

characteristics, description, accomplishments, background, types, techniques, steps, procedures, influences, causes, problems, solutions, effects

What are the physical characteristics of the black bear?

"Small" questions Small questions tend to require only 1 or 2 answers with little explanation needed. Small questions can be turned into larger research questions.
  Examples:

How many state parks are in Minnesota?

How many movies has Josh Hartnett been in?

How much does the black bear weigh?

Is your question feasible? Is it possible to research your question in a certain amount of time without too much difficulty?
